About Me
THE OWNER
My name is Danielle Robinson, I am the designer, artist and owner of Silver Soul Creations. I was born in Calgary but I have spent the majority of my life living in Medicine Hat, AB. I have been married to my husband Marty for 25 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters, Abigail and Amanda, and the sweetest 14 year old Westie named Jasper Joe.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
I had always dreamed of having the opportunity to stay home with my kids, which luckily I was able to do. I loved being a stay at home mom but had an interest and deep desire to do something creative, while also having the flexibility to be fully available for my family.
20 years ago Marty and I had a stillborn baby girl who we named Madeline. Unfortunately, when you lose a baby before you ever get to bring them home it leaves you with no fond family memories, no favourite teddy bear, no photos to frame. The only keepsake we had were Madeline’s tiny footprints. The idea that I could create a piece of jewelry to wear close to me with those sweet little feet became the inspiration for Silver Soul. After much trial and error, practice and patience, the first pendant I ever made was Madeline’s Footprints. Wearing her footprints did many things for me, it allowed me to feel close to her at times when I really needed it and it gave me the opportunity to talk about her when people asked about my necklace. It wasn’t long after that Silver Soul was born, it has now been thriving for more than 14 years.
THE JEWELRY
Silver Soul has 2 very different collections but both have the same attention to detail and beauty. First, is the Keepsake Collection. In this line I work with my customers to recreate their loved-ones actual handprints, footprints, fingerprints, handwriting and drawings on fine silver pendants. Each piece is completely handmade in my studio using a detailed artisan process. These are truly one-of-a-kind keepsakes that commemorate the people you love.
Second, is the Kindred Collection. The jewelry in this line is all symbolic of relationships, family, friendship and our connection to everything around us. Each piece is created using fine, sterling silver and semiprecious stones.
WHAT INSPIRES ME
This business came full circle for me when I was contacted by the NICU department of an Alberta hospital where I had delivered Madeline. They wanted to offer Silver Soul Keepsakes to families, like me, who had lost their babies. Since then, Silver Soul is now offered in a variety of hospitals, hospices, funeral homes and veterinarians.
Everyday I am honoured to hear stories from my customers about their loved-ones. I get to hear about their excitement welcoming a new child into their families as well as their heartbreak when losing someone they love. Most of all, I love when they share how much their Silver Soul Jewelry means to them. The common thread amongst all of them is that with these pendants they feel closer to the ones they love.
